Cassero –
The classic blackcurrant liqueur from Luxembourg

Blackcurrants, an old castle and intuition for what really matters

There are products that are more than just their flavour. They represent their origins, a way of life and a history that has developed over generations.

Cassero is one such product – a true Luxembourg speciality, rooted in the countryside surrounding the Renaissance castle of Beaufort in the heart of the Müllerthal.

A blackcurrant liqueur with a history dating back to the 1930s

Above the castle, Edmond Linckels planted the first blackcurrant fields in the late 1920s and early 1930s, driven by a vision to create a distinctive blackcurrant liqueur in Luxembourg.

The region’s unique conditions continue to shape the character of the berries to this day. They ripen slowly and develop the depth and intense aroma that make Cassero so distinctive.

What once began as pioneering work is now a living tradition. Even today, a significant proportion of the blackcurrants still come from this region. Small, dark and intensely aromatic, they give Cassero its rich colour, its lively fruit acidity and its distinctive character.

From fruit to liqueur

The berries come partly from the local region and partly from the finest growing areas; they are carefully selected and processed whilst fresh. After harvesting, the berries are taken directly to the castle cellar, where gentle maceration begins: steeped in alcohol, the fruits gradually release their deep red colour, their delicate acidity, their natural sweetness and their characteristic forest aromas.

Maturation takes place over several weeks in the historic vaulted cellar of Beaufort Castle. The constant temperature and tranquillity of the cellar give the liqueur time – time to unfold, find balance and develop its character.

Flavour and enjoyment

Cassero is a deep red, full-bodied and tangy-fruity liqueur, with an unmistakable fruity note that captures the essence of blackcurrants.

Gently macerated and patiently matured, the liqueur unfolds its colour, natural sweetness, subtle acidity and characteristic forest aromas to create a harmonious taste experience. Every sip speaks of craftsmanship, time and passion – a product of true craftsmanship that combines tradition and flavour.

Cassero surprises with its versatility:
